What is a Credentialled Diabetes Educator?

A Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE) is a health professional who has been recognised by ADEA for their specialist knwledge and professional developement in the field of diabtes education. CDE is a reistered trademark allowing the ADEA to define who can use it.


Recognition as a CDE is ADEA’s assurance to people with or at risk of diabetes, their families, carers amd health care providers that they can expect to receive quality education and advice when consulting with a CDE.

CDE vs a DE (Diabetes Educator)

Only a CDE is reognised by

  • Medicare Australia
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs
  • Some private health insurers as the providers of the diabetes education


What does a CDE do?

CDE’s assist people with diabetes andthose at risk of developing diabetes by emporing them to effectrively self-manage the care and treatment of their diabetes or prediabetics.
